A boarding school cannot exist without its non-academic activities.
In addition to over 60 clubs and societies, a great many sports are played at Fettes. We cater for students of all abilities and offer a broad range of sporting and physical activities for our students. All students are involved in the Games programme on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons. We also make the very best use of our location and close proximity to the centre of the cultural offerings of the International city of Edinburgh.
There is a weekend programme of fun activities offered on a Saturday evening for all Middle School students (ages 13-15 years) and regular outdoor activities and trips on a Sunday, such as Munro climbing, white water rafting and mountain biking. House Competitions also form a key part of school life where students represent their boarding house in a wide range of competitions and challenges throughout the year. Every student is encouraged to get involved and the events cover the full spectrum of academic, sporting, artistic, charitable and outdoor life.
A selection of our co-curricular opportunities can be seen below.
Over 60 Activities and Societies
At Fettes we believe in the education of the whole person and whatever activity or society a student chooses to join, they emerge with newfound skills, new friends and experiences. The activities we offer reflect the interests of our students and our staff, which is why we are able to offer everything from a Taylor Swift Appreciation Society to codebreaking, investing, golf and our very own Fettes Radio plus so much more!
"The range of societies offered encourages students to develop reasoning and debating skills in a variety of academic subjects including Classics, Law, Politics, Science and Literature. We regularly welcome distinguished speakers to Fettes to share their knowledge and experiences with our community."
