The Arts

Fettes offers a true all-round education and the provision of the arts is central to that philosophy. All students have the opportunities, and support to develop confidence in their creative ability and to perform in front of others.

Music is everywhere at Fettes. Rarely do you walk around the campus without hearing music; the Chapel organ, instrumental practice, choir rehearsals and, of course, bagpipes. There are numerous opportunities for students to perform whether they are an enthusiastic beginner or an accomplished musician.

The light filled Art Department was purpose-built to house double height studios, a specialist library, ceramics room and permanent gallery space. It is a hub of creativity and exploration. Our experienced staff have a range of expertise, including an Artist-in-Residence who works alongside senior students to give an insight into professional art practice.

Our Drama is of an impressive standard from the more intimate House plays and student directed productions to spectacular whole school performances. For those who prefer working behind the scenes, they can write, direct, produce, design the set, create the costumes or engineer the sound and lights.
