Students from Fettes College and Fettes Prep joined forces with our incredible catering team to trial a meat free lunch menu before the half term break.

The Fettes catering team pulled out all the stops to make the lunch time experience enjoyable to the whole Fettes community – from the eyepopping yellow of the sweetcorn, to the beautiful pinks of the beetroot salad, the meal was a feast for the eyes.

Tackling the misconception that vegetarian eating is boring, there was a huge array of new foods on offer (did someone say Jackfruit Salad?) and a selection of old favourites cooked with a vegetarian twist.

Alex N and Huge H (Fettes College Head Girl and Head Boy), alongside the Prep School Food Committee, provided information on how to reduce food waste and the benefits of eating local and seasonal produce.

Following the success of the day our catering team has plans for a vegetarian dinner for the end of February – let’s hope to see more of those sweet potato falafels in the future!
