The 2020 International Baccalaureate Diploma results, released on Monday 6th July, brought some very good news with the cohort achieving an impressive average score of 37 points. There were many individual successes with 17 candidates, 31%, gaining 40 points or more, whilst 69% of the candidates gained or exceeded a score of 36 points. At Higher Level, 68% of all grades were a 7 or a 6, whilst the equivalent figure at Standard Level was 66%. In terms of UCAS points, the average score for the whole cohort was 218, the equivalent at A Level of more than three A*s and an A. All candidates secured the Diploma.

On account of the circumstances brought about by the closure of schools, these results are unique in that they are grades calculated by the IB and not the result of terminal examinations. Amongst these successes, there are also some candidates whose calculations have been very difficult to understand and we are working with them in order to assess the best way forward.
