Before the end of term our students and staff partnered with a few local charities to help spread some festive cheer to those who need it this Christmas.

Members of our talented Chapel Choir visited the Queens Manor Care Home in Edinburgh, to sing some beautiful Christmas carols to the residents.

The students and supervising Fettes staff were greeted with a lovely warm welcome and lots of smiling faces, eager to hear the Chapel Choir sing. Upper 6th student, Davina H M lead the choir superbly as they performed a selection of traditional and much-loved carols. We were delighted that a few residents sang along and there was even a request for an encore.

Thank you to the Queens Manor Care Home for having us and we wish all the members of staff and the residents a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to visiting again in the New Year.

We also partnered with a charity called Vintage Vibes. They run a service that tackles isolation and loneliness among over-60s in Edinburgh. They reach out across the city, offering companionship, reliable support and the chance for individuals to be more socially connected. They organise a Christmas Card campaign where they supply a variety of different profiles of members of their community for our students and staff to write to. Each profile contains a unique quirk, interesting hobby or fun fact about an over-60s individual. After choosing the person we would like to write to we made cards and wrote personalised, heartfelt messages. This was a lovely way for us all to connect with our local community and we cannot thank Vintage Vibes enough for the opportunity to be part of this amazing initiative.

At Fettes we have been working with the staff at Edinburgh City Mission for a number of years and we were delighted to take part in their Foodbank+ scheme before the end of term. Edinburgh City Mission is a marvellous charity who engage in poverty relief among the inhabitants of Edinburgh and the surrounding area, particularly in deprived communities. Thank you to all the students and members of staff for their donations.
