The final week of term came to an end in true Fettesian style with celebrations at our Founder’s Eve Concert and our first in person Founder’s Day since 2019.

On the morning of Saturday 2nd July, the weather held and the sun tried its best to shine as a real sense of excitement and anticipation for this special and auspicious occasion got underway.

In a packed marquee, Mrs H Harrison gave the Head’s address and expressed how joyful it was to have reached this moment, to be standing here in this marquee, bidding farewell to our leavers in person, face-to-face, in the presence of their parents, their friends and the rest of the school.

In celebrating the achievements of recent school successes, and looking to the future, Mrs Harrison outlined her strategic vision for Fettes including sharing plans for the innovative developments which will be realised in the coming years.  Mrs Harrison said, “I have called my vision: Fettes Moving Forward with the strapline Fettes: a place to live, a place to learn, a place to grow.*  It focuses boldly on what we believe Fettesians should aspire to be, the skills they will need in life and the impact we want them to make in the world.”

Chair of Governors, The Rt Hon Lady Morag Wise introduced the Guest of the Day OF Mr Joe Morrison (Mo 1988-90) describing his incredible journey in international sports broadcasting and Mr Morrison went on to deliver an excellent and quirky speech conveying a powerful message about embracing self-doubt and aspirations.

Following the presentation of well-deserved prizes for outstanding achievement, and an excellent rendition of The Vive-La sung by Heads of School, Freya B and Elliot W, the morning events concluded in the jubilant singing by all of Floreas Fettesia.

The sense of great celebration and joy continued throughout the afternoon culminating in Beating Retreat on the Head’s Lawn which brought the afternoon, and term, to a fitting end.

*The Head’s vision “Fettes Moving Forward” will be shared in full with all the Fettes Community during the Autumn Term.
