Fettes College are delighted to announce a new partnership with Edinburgh based charity Empty Kitchens, Full Hearts an initiative setup by a group of Edinburgh chefs in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and UK lockdown. Their mission is a simple one, to turn surplus food in to nutritious meals for those in need. This incredible organisation has grown exponentially over the last 6 months and now has over 300 volunteers working to make sure that free meals are delivered on a daily basis to those unable to afford or access fresh food.
“We are charitable in nature, but our actions are from a standpoint of respect and solidarity”.
Fettes Service Prefects and all boarding houses are now onboard. Our highly motivated pupils are working with our Head Chef and Catering Manager to utilise any Fettes food available for donation.
Whilst we always aim to reduce excess left-overs at Fettes, when there is some we are delighted to support those in need, particularly within our local community area. As this relationship develops we would like students to volunteer within their production and distribution centres too.
