Fettes Drama has had to be creative in its response to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic this term: instead of a live school play, our production this year will be a professionally shot and edited film of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, due to be filmed in January for release in March. In adapting Shakespeare’s play for the screen, we have set it in a fictional ‘Messina College’, using spaces in our distinctive campus as the backdrop to a story of love, intrigue and misperception.

The cast have worked exceptionally hard this term to get ready for the filming, adapting to the different demands of acting for the camera and devising the various scenes in site-specific locations. Performances to watch out for include Nathan E and Abigail M as the feisty couple, Benedick and Beatrice, Zamara C and Kai L as young lovers Hero and Claudio, and Elliot W and Fergus B as Pedro and John, two powerful but conflicting brothers.

With the help of our film crew from Day Six Films, we hope the finished film will offer excellent entertainment.
