Today marks the last day of trial exams for our 5th Form who have shown incredible resilience and determination to keep working hard despite the changes that the pandemic has inevitably created.

They should all be incredibly proud.

One of the brilliant initiatives that came from our Academic Prefects, Temi and Bengu, were live revisions sessions by students for students.

Every day this week, the prefect team put on subject-specific revision sessions open to all 5th Form. Running for an hour each afternoon, the prefect team were available to answer questions, help with a little knowledge testing and simply support younger students. Students could of course also access their teachers for any assistance but this gave an extra dimension to their revision.

Temi explained the reason behind the sessions:

“We set them up because we thought it would be helpful for the 5th Form preparing for their mocks. It gave them a chance to ask for help with the questions that they have been finding difficult. We knew it might be even tougher doing so while Learning From Home.”

The 5th Form have expressed their thanks for what has been a brilliant, innovative and supportive addition:

“The revision session was very useful in preparation for the trial exams as we were able to ask last minute questions in a relaxed atmosphere.”

“Over the course of the GCSEs mock week I have attended several of the revision sessions set up by the wonderful prefects, they were very friendly and helpful.”

“Even if I didn’t have many questions they would give me tips and tricks on exam technique and how to manage my time wisely, especially since exams online are so different to sitting in a hall. I found these sessions very helpful and I am extremely grateful to the prefects to putting them on. I feel that have helped me a significant amount to get through the trials and I hope that my results can back that up.”
