More about the role...

Fettes College Pipe Band seeks a Tenor and Bass drumming instructor to commence teaching in the Autumn term, November 2021.

The successful candidate will be a player of a high standard with both teaching and performance experience. Solo performance and band experience are important as our Tenor and Bass lessons aim to give well-rounded drumming guidance to our pupils.

As well as one to one lessons of 40 minutes, the candidate will attend Pipe Band practice during term time and help various Tenor and Bass players grow in confidence and ability while learning all of the techniques required to play in a Pipe Band in different contexts e.g. competition, parades, concerts etc.

Experience and Commitments:

  • A range of teaching and performing experience
  • Music composition and notation
  • Drum set up and maintenance
  • Administration of timetable using excel
  • Termly report writing
  • Attending competitions, tours, parades and any other events the band are involved in

Currently we have a requirement for 10 lessons per week, this could quite easily increase with the right person in position and build to a more substantial number.

Employment will be on a self-employed basis.

Renumeration per forty-minute lesson will be £23.90 and £35.85 per hour for Band Practice.

Meals may be taken in the dining hall free of charge during term time. Parking is free of charge.
