An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, qualified and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated team at Fettes College on a part-time bases until end of June 2022, with possibility of a new fix term contract from September 2022.

Summary of Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee coaching of the strength and conditioning programme at all levels and take a lead role in delivery (in the Games and Activities programmes).
  • In conjunction with the Director of Sport and Heads of Sport plan appropriate field and gym based conditioning sessions for the core sports throughout each of the three terms.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Sport organise testing for the sports scholars and produce documentation with results and future goals. Mentor relevant scholars as required.
  • In conjunction with the Physis physiotherapist and the Medical Centre oversee the return to play of injured students prior to Games sessions.
  • Oversee the Graduated Return to Play (GRTP) of all students returning from a head injury – currently we use Return2Play as our injury management tool.
  • Liaise with House Parents regarding Strength and Conditioning sessions to be held in the House Gyms and regarding presentations on nutrition as required.
  • Perform a termly audit of the Performance Gym equipment and make requests to the Director of Sport to renew/replace equipment as required.
  • Assist with the 3rd and 4th Form PE lessons on Monday and Friday.
  • Regularly liaise with staff regarding pupils' physical welfare.

Essential:

BSc in Sports Science or Strength and Conditioning.
One – two years coaching experience (voluntary or paid).
Reliable, punctual and the ability to give clear and concise information to players and staff.
Strong understanding of LTAD and YPD.

Desirable:

MSc in sports science or strength and conditioning.
Previous experience within a school or youth setting.
