The Prep School enjoyed a reading-tastic and fun filled day on World Book Day, for which the national theme was ‘You Are A Reader.’
We started the day with a short assembly thinking about why we are all readers and some staff shared their thoughts about what makes them a reader. We then had a ‘Drop Everything and Read’ session before the first lesson of the day.
There were lots of competitions and lessons which focussed on the day’s theme. The competitions ranged from a sporty one to win a non-fiction prize to ‘Guess the Teacher’ from a baby photo and favourite childhood book; creating pixelated book front covers; writing a poem or instructions inspired by a story and designing a bookmark for professional printing!
Lunch was very special too – we all slid into Wonderland, some of us even did this on an actual slide! The fantastic catering team had dressed up in Alice in Wonderland costumes and some of the treats of the day reflected this theme. The pupil costumes were an amazing sight too- what a range! Best effort in each class were awarded prizes.
All in all, we had a lovely day celebrating the joy and fun which comes with books and reading.
