Our Prep Summer Concert was a final hurrah to this academic year, to our wonderful 2nd Form pupils who move onto the senior school in September, to Mrs Watson who is heading south, and to Mr Rathborne who retires after 12 years as Deputy Head of Fettes Prep.
If we needed to pick just one word to sum up this fabulous evening, it would be collaboration. We listened to such joyful music from soloists, duets, trios and the incredible Gallery and Chamber Choirs. All received equal applause from their peers and the appreciative audience, who were packed into the Theatre.
Mr Pettinger spoke of the support the children had received from the dedicated peripatetic staff and the support they had given to each other over the year. We gave a huge round of applause to recognise the hard work and collaboration of the most dynamic trio of them all - Mr Pettinger, Mr Dundas and Mrs Quaile!
In the most wonderful musical send off, the whole school sang ‘Save Our Planet ‘which they dedicated to Mrs Rathborne, followed by Mr Rathborne’s favourite song, ‘Wessex Boy’ by Frank Turner. The concert ended with ‘One Moment in Time’ followed by thunderous foot stamping and applause.
