Prep School Burns Supper and Ceilidh

Guests, pupils and staff had a wonderful time at the Prep Burns Supper and Ceilidh last night, which was beautifully organised by Mr Mill. The evening started with a lovely performance by the Strings group, followed by Charlie’s superb piping in of the head table party.

Mr Mill had enlisted the oratory skills of his father, Mr Mill senior, who was first to go, giving us a very entertaining rendition of the ‘Address to the Haggis’ which was enjoyed by the entire audience. After this dramatic performance, we all tucked into our haggis, neeps and tatties. As usual, the amazing catering team produced an absolutely delicious meal.

An extremely witty ‘Toast to the Lassies’ and similarly amusing ‘Reply’ were given by Heads of School, Charlie and Siena, which made us laugh as well as reminding us of the camaraderie shared.

Kitty was up next, with a beautiful performance of a song written by Mr Mill. We were also entertained by the Pipe Band and lower 6th music scholar, Thomas E, singing another of Mr Mill’s songs, with chorus accompaniment from all present.

Once the meal and entertainments were complete, space was made and the ceilidh band put our 2nd Form pupils through their paces with much fun for all.

We would like to thank our wonderful musicians, including an excellent performance on the pipes from Charlie, our guest speaker, Mr Mill, and Heads of School, Charlie and Siena. Thanks too go to Mrs Colville and Mr Wood, together with his entire team, for such a delicious supper and all they do for us.

Last, but not least, thank you to Mr Mill for all the hard work involved in organising such a splendid evening.
