With lots of excitement and no doubt a few nerves, the 1st of September finally rolled around, and our new pupil day arrived! The sun was out and the skies a welcoming blue for our latest Fettesians’ first day.
After a catch up with their new teachers we whisked the pupils off to collect packed lunches and then boarded the buses waiting to take us all to Dynamic Earth. The journey took us past some iconic Edinburgh landmarks and once we arrived and disembarked, we enjoyed lunch in the sunshine, waved to tourists on the open top buses and began the process of getting to know each other.
We were lucky enough to have Dynamic Earth all to ourselves and group by group we entered the building and walked down to the exhibits. There was so much information to take in as we learnt about the formation of the universe, movement of plates, earthquakes, icy landscapes, and the role of the oceans. The 3D film show took us on a tour of all five major biomes, and we finished our visit in the dark and noisy rainforest.
It was a wonderful day which gave us all a chance to meet, laugh, learn, and play. We are very excited to see what the rest of this term brings!
