House Sorting Assembly
The Prep School’s Sorting Assembly was a lively, magical affair, with the teachers fully embracing their Harry Potter-style costumes. The star of the show was undoubtedly Professor Trelawney (Mrs Whitcombe), who took centre stage with her crystal ball, dressed in her robes and oversized glasses. With dramatic flair, she gazed into the orb and called out each student’s name, announcing their house assignment in an over-the-top, mysterious voice. Her cryptic prophecies, wild gestures, and theatrical predictions had the new students and their peers laughing in delight as they eagerly awaited to hear which house they would be placed into.
The children could not help but laugh at Trelawney's dramatic flair as she made each Sorting feel like a mini performance, filled with bizarre predictions and funny remarks. The sense of anticipation was palpable, but it was clear that the students were thoroughly enjoying themselves, with their giggles echoing throughout the 'Grand Hall' (PAH). Even the teachers, dressed as iconic magical characters, joined in the fun, watching as the new students were sorted with humour and heart. Though the ceremony was filled with light-heartedness, it also marked an important milestone for the students, who eagerly embraced the start of their magical journey in their new houses.
