Boarders' Skating Trip

On a chilly Sunday, the boarders hopped onto our transport to the Murrayfield Ice Rink. This is a trip that we always look forward to, though for some of us who are not regular skaters, it can be a little nerve wracking. Having said this, we are, of course, always up for a challenge!

We hurriedly changed into our skates, and those less experienced amongst us rather gingerly headed onto the rink. After the inevitable first few rounds of clinging to the sides, the beginners soon found their feet and enjoyed the freedom of circling the rink at ever increasing speeds.

At the other end of the experience scale there were inevitable thrills and spills, with some awesome skating, including the 2nd form skaters executing spins and even playing tig around the rink. We stopped every now and then for a few breaks and to get our breath back for another round of fun and games. Some of us even started making snowballs with the ice!

This was, as usual, a really fun trip where we played and laughed together, picked each other up, applauded skills, worked as a team and expended a lot of energy!

On behalf of all the boarders, we would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Scott and Mr Hall for organizing the trip and Mrs Flett, Miss Macpherson and Mrs Brathwaite for accompanying us.
