2nd Form Geography Field Trip - Rivers
The first groups of our 2nd Form geographers headed for Aberfeldy in Perthshire for their Rivers Field Trip.
They arrived in Aberfeldy on the Tuesday after an incredibly wet weekend. The residents of Aberfeldy had experienced a month's worth of rain in around 24 hours, and this put paid to plans to canoe on Loch Faskally. Instead, they left the Beyond Adventure base and travelled up the road to Loch Tay. Sadly, the wind conditions made launching canoes impossible, so they settled for walking up to a point above the loch, where they had a perfect view of the loch flowing into the River Tay at Kenmore.
After a stop in Aberfeldy, there was time for a quick lunch stop before swapping activities and a walk along The Birks of Aberfeldy. They learnt a great deal about river processes, and it was a spectacular experience with a high river and full waterfalls tumbling down.
Our second group had more luck today with the water down at an acceptable level, they were able to enjoy canoeing on Loch Faskally today!
