Three of our U6th Spanish students have recently been given the opportunity to contribute to a Spanish journal called the Bulletin of Advanced Spanish.
Eliza D, Natalie A and Ruby L are currently studying Spanish poetry, so have focused their article on the life and work of Pablo Neruda, a Chilean poet and politician who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971.
The collaborative article includes a brief history of the poet and reflections on his work. Our students told us:
“Our article discusses Neruda’s background and how he links his experiences to his poetry. Neruda faced problems as a communist, which lead to his exile in which he published ‘Canto General’, a collection of poems, some of which we have studied. Additionally, we argued that Neruda used his poetry as a form of propaganda to criticise the politics of the government."
Thank you to all those at the Bulletin of Advanced Spanish for providing our students with this wonderful opportunity.
