The Advent Candlelit Eucharist

The Christmas traditions at Fettes help celebrate this special time of the year to our students and staff with the Candlelit Eucharist being an especially poignant part of it.

400 candles lit up the Chapel, which has been beautifully decorated by a team of volunteers who enhance Chapel as a gift to the students each year, creating an incredible backdrop to the singing of carols and messages of Advent.

The Chaplain spoke of Advent as a time for reflection upon the challenging and difficult aspects of life that we might prefer to ignore. At the distribution of the bread and wine we were treated to some magnificent singing from the Chapel Choir, including: The Truth for Above, arranged by Ralph Vaughan Williams; In the Bleak Midwinter, by Harold Darke; and Away in a Manger, by Reginal Jacques.
