SuperTroop Holiday

We are delighted to once again be hosting SuperTroop for a fun-filled holiday week. SuperTroop is an Edinburgh based charity providing residential breaks, new experiences and opportunities for independence for children and young people with disabilities and we are proud to support them once again.

Fettes’ Dalmeny House is SuperTroop’s home every year during the first week of the summer holiday when our staff and student volunteers change into their SuperTroop uniform to dance, sing, smile and make memories with the young holiday-makers.

All staff are volunteers with Fettes students and staff actively involved as helpers and group leaders. The volunteers attend training through the months leading up to the holiday and stay on-site during the week 24/7. The team puts a huge amounts of energy into supporting the holiday makers ensuring the highest standards of personal care and developing innovative communication supports so everyone can express their needs and thoughts.

Volunteering is a huge part of life at Fettes and those students who take part in SuperTroop find it an incredibly rewarding experience with many returning every year to help out. They particularly love seeing the returning holiday-makers and how they have grown and developed over the previous 12 months.

“I knew that we had given the children and young people a really great holiday and that felt so good. There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to come back the following year.”
