The House Competition kicked off on Thursday with the Steeplechase. This year’s event saw 321 students challenge themselves to complete the course, which spans the entire campus grounds. The runners faced a tough headwind for much of the race, with some relief coming on the final straight as they sprinted towards the finish line, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.

Arniston secured first place in the Girls’ competition with a dominant performance, successfully retaining their title from the previous year. In the Boys’ event, Glencorse narrowly edged out Carrington by one point to claim first place.

Beyond the competition itself, the event was a true celebration of participation and House pride. With so many students taking part, the Steeplechase showcased the spirit of resilience and camaraderie that defines the Fettes community. Every runner’s effort, regardless of position, was met with enthusiastic support, reminding us all that the value of competing and representing their House is just as important as the final result.
