Steeplechase 2021

The 2021 Steeplechase was blessed with almost perfect conditions as 400 students, evenly split between Houses, ran the course in year groups. With house pride aplenty and each student giving it their all, there were some fantastic races throughout the afternoon.

Some highlights included a super-fast run by Dashka MacD (Dalmeny) in the 3rd Form Girls’ race. Dalmeny in fact dominated the girls’ competition managing a clean sweep with Cleodie S H (4th Form), Eliza M (5th Form), Ailsa G (Lower 6th) and Jess A (Upper 6th) winning their respective events. Well done Dalmeny - we assume you have been practising very hard!

There was a more even split in the winners’ enclosure for the Boys’ races with Moredun winning the two youngest year races; Seth J (3rd Form) and Rory B (4th Form) and Carrington winning for the senior years: Brodie M (5th Form), Finn B (Lower 6th) and Magnus H (Upper 6th). Magnus didn’t have it easy though as he had to keep pushing right up to the line just managing to hold off Archie S in the final 50 yards.

The steeplechase is a truly fantastic event and embodies the spirit of Fettes. It was wonderful to see students of all sporting abilities taking part and enjoying themselves. As always it was the encouragement and support of the students and staff on the sidelines that represents what it truly means to be a Fettesian.

Well done to everyone who participated but now for the part you really want to know… the results!
