Sports Representative News

We are delighted to announce a number of recent representative selections from the Spring Term:

Tom B, Scotland Rugby U18 Training Squad

Upper 6th, Tom B has been selected for the Scottish Rugby Scotland U18 Rugby Training Squad!

We spoke to Tom at the end of the Autumn Term, just after he learned of his selection and he told us:

“I am very happy to have been selected for the Scotland U18 Training Squad. It has been a huge commitment to get to this stage but incredibly worthwhile and I see it as a milestone for my rugby future.

The skills I will learn in the training sessions will be invaluable to my development and it is a further step towards elite level sport. Fettes is great at encouraging participation and performance at all levels and my coaches Mr Harrison and Mr Bredin have been incredibly supportive, especially in helping me recover from a major injury. I missed several training sessions last year so winning a place on the squad is momentous for me as a player. I hope it will open many more doors for me and as I fully intend to continue my rugby career at university and beyond, this will give me a welcome opportunity.”

Duncan Harrison, Head of Boys Games and Tom’s coach:

“Tom’s commitment and determination has really paid off and he is thoroughly deserving of his place on the squad. Not only has he shown true resilience in bouncing back from major injury, but he continues to go above and beyond when encouraging younger players. He has made meaningful connections throughout all year groups, encouraging our juniors and offering advice and support.

He is not just committed to the 1st XV, I have often seen him talk to each member of a junior squad after their match and it is those skills in team support that will hold him in great stead in the future. We are delighted for Tom and look forward to seeing his future rugby career take flight.”

Congratulations Tom, we can’t wait to follow your journey! Read more about the news on Scottish Rugby’s website: https://www.scottishrugby.org/news/scotland-u18-training-squad-announced
