This has been a fantastic summer for our Fettesian Hockey players with five students regularly involved in games for the Scotland team throughout the summer culminating in the Futures Cup at Oaklands College in St Albans. There Scotland under the guise of the Caledonia Cougars, had teams in all four age groups. Jack A, representing the U15 side, won bronze with his goal scoring contributing to the 3-2 win against the Pennine Pumas. Izzy U captained the U17 team to bronze against the Pennine Pumas and was awarded one of the ‘goals of the tournament’ too. Finally, Archie S, Xavax C and Matthew H were all part of the U17 side that finished 5th with Xavax scoring two well taken goals in the 5/6th playoff.

Izzy, Xavax and Archie had also previously played in a series of games for Scotland U17 against England and Ulster and Jack and Izzy also had games against Wales so their summer has been well spent!

Earlier in the summer, Matthew H was part of the winning Scotland U19 side who won the Great Britain and Ireland Four Nations. Matthew played a key part in their success scoring a number of goals including a well taken brace against England.

There was local success too with Marissa M part of the U16 Edinburgh Lightning squad that won the Scottish Hockey development series in July.

Over the summer, Fettesian cricketers featured in East of Scotland representative matches, and two of our pupils represented Scotland at U15 level.

Harry A played 9 times for Scotland, with these matches being against a number English U15 county teams. Harry featured strongly with bat and ball, recording a best score of 41 against Northumberland, with best bowling figures of 4-25 against Durham and 4-31 against Cumbria. He also played 6 times for Stewarts-Melville CC in the top tier of Scottish senior club cricket, and scored 94 in a junior district trial v West of Scotland.

Pippa K, one of our key players in last summers girls 1st XI was selected to play for Scotland girls U15 team, as an all-rounder. The team played in the Malvern Festival during the summer, winning 5 matches out of 6.

"A very well done to all our students that have represented Scotland this summer – your hard work and dedication has paid off and we are all extremely proud of you. We can’t wait to see all our students back playing fixtures and representing Fettes very soon."
