Singing competition hailed as outstanding

The final of the Singing Competition is always a very special evening, and this year’s – held on Friday 12th May – was no exception.

Grace C-B, Douglas G, Ramsay F, Grace D, Adley E and Willa H sang in the Intermediate Class, with a wonderful variety of music, ranging from Brahms to Abba!

In the senior Class, Elise A, Olivia M, Alex F, Pippa M, Annabelle P, Sofia T and Thomas E gave brilliant performances of music including Handel’s Ombra mai fù, Chausson’s Le colibri, and On My Own and Bring Him Home from Les Misérables.

The standard throughout the evening was truly outstanding, and our terrific adjudicator, Kathleen McKellor Ferguson, from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, had the very difficult job of choosing winners.  After much deliberation, Adley won the Intermediate Class, with Grace C-B and Grace D jointly taking Highly Commended.  Alex emerged victorious in the Senior class, and Olivia and Sofia were both awarded Highly Commended.

The whole evening was a real celebration of singing, and our warm congratulations go to all the performers – along with thanks for all their hard work!
