Scottish Islands Peaks Race squad: out and about above the city

Before Open Day on Sunday 13th October, the Scottish Islands Peaks Race squad met at 0800 for their latest training run.

This time the 12km route took them above Edinburgh, from the Palace of Holyroodhouse around and over Arthur’s Seat.  After a run around Salisbury Crags, overlooking the wakening city, the runners put in an extra peak:  Calton Hill.  Then a brisk scamper through the streets and Inverleith Park brought everyone back to Fettes in time for Sunday brunch and the crunch World Cup rugby match.

The morning showed the sixth-formers that hill running is, in fact, on their doorstep.  The pupils who are selected for the SIPR team will be the ones who take the initiative and train from the school up Arthur’s Seat.

The Scottish Islands Peaks Race 2020 starts from Oban Sailing Club on May 15th
