Record-Breaking A Level Results for the Fettes College Class of 2022
We are delighted to report record-breaking results for the A Level class of 2022, with 22% of all grades awarded at A* - the highest on record for students sitting external exams.
In addition, 49% of grades achieved by our students were at A*/A, with 72% scoring A*- B grades and 82% of Extended Project Qualification submissions (EPQs) returning either an A* or A. There are many outstanding individual achievements with 10 students deserving a special mention for achieving at least three straight A*s, an exceptional achievement demonstrating their dedication and academic rigour. Their names are listed below.
As Fettes College offers a choice of curriculum in the Sixth Form, only by combining all the results from both curricula can we truly reflect the achievements of our students. We have already published the success of our IB cohort after the results were announced in July (full report here). Fettes College is delighted to announce the combined results of our 2022 A Level & IB examinations:
25% A* at A Level or 7 at IB
58% A*/A at A Level or 7/6 at IB
82% A*- B at A Level or 7/6/5 at IB
Jonathan Marchant, Deputy Head (Academic) says “This is a fantastic achievement in testing times and we are incredibly proud of what our Fettesians have achieved.
“These results clearly demonstrate that by offering both the IB Diploma and A Level pathways, the strengths of all of our pupils are accommodated. They are also testament to the commitment and determination of our students as well as the dedication of our staff."
Helen Harrison, Head, added “Every student should be proud of their efforts and celebrate their hard work and commitment to academic excellence. Whatever their next steps, we ask them to remember the skills they have learnt at Fettes and embrace all future opportunities in the knowledge that we are always here to support them.”
These results have translated into university entrance success with the majority of our leavers securing their first choice institution including places at Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial, St Andrews, Durham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Royal Conservatoire in Scotland. Students have also secured places at prestigious universities in the US such as Brown and McGill in Canada, TU Delft in the Netherlands and Bocconi in Milan.
