Huge congratulations to 5th form student Davina HM for having gained a place in the National Youth Training Choir of Great Britain and a reserved place in the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland.

We asked Davina about what she was most looking forward to about joining the Training Choir and Youth Orchestra,

"The things I am looking forward to most in the Training Choir and the Orchestra is the experience I will gain whilst working with very talented piers and course directors, and the wide range of repertoire that is performed. On the courses you learn lots about performance and key skills that you need in the music industry. Not only that but you make lifelong friends who share the same interests as you. The music department at Fettes College has been amazing in preparing me for these various auditions. Not only have they prepared me by involving me in choirs, orchestras and bands. But they have pushed me to perform in coffee concerts to allow me to adapt to performing in pressured situations. So by the time I had my audition I was well prepped and confident with what I was performing. All the music staff have supported me through all my exams, competitions and performances leading up to this point and without their advice and skills I don't think I would have felt as ready as how I felt at the time."
