Today is Purple Friday, marking the last Friday of LGBT History Month and is named after the purple stripe in the rainbow flag. Our students and staff demonstrate their support for the LGBTQ+ community by wearing purple and rainbow flags have been placed across campus. Today and every day we celebrate our unique differences and seek to educate and facilitate discussions regarding support for LGBTQ+ equality. Sue Bruce, Head of PSE and College West Housemistress explains why she believes celebrating Purple Friday is important within the Fettes community.
"Every February marks a chance to celebrate and spotlight LGBT history and culture in Scotland and further afield. At Fettes we strongly support LGBT Youth Scotland on this day by standing for equality, inclusion and making our country, society and school the best place for LGBT+ young people to grow up."
