This year’s Prep Schools Orchestra Day saw 80 musicians from visiting schools Belhaven Hill, Cargilfield and St Mary’s, Melrose and  Fettes Prep. We were blessed to have such enthusiasm and talent to pull together a performance of Handel’s ‘Lascia ch'io pianga’ and Grieg’s ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’  and to deliver it with all the panache and accuracy required for a concert at the close of the day. In addition, the musicians proved they had good voices too, and learned a song, in Hebrew, in 20 minutes which allowed them to sing in parts and from memory - quite an achievement in such a short time. The concert was enhanced by three of our senior soloists: Emilia A, Jemima O and Matteo C – thank you to each of them. Our thanks also go to the Music staff from each of the participating schools, who assisted and supported the pupils throughout the day.

Before preparing for the closing concert, the pupils enjoyed some outdoor activity in toasting marshmallows, and having fun exploring our wooded bushcraft area. 

A great day was had by all!
