On Friday evening, the Culachy played host to the final of the Piano Competition with a dozen of Fettes’ finest pianists taking part. There were two classes of competition - Intermediate and Senior. For the audience though, this was a concert in all but name and a brilliant one at that. The students were able to draw in their audience – making the audience move and smile but most of all, demonstrating musicianship and technical ability of the highest quality.  

Mr. Jonathan Raynor from St George’s School was the adjudicator for the evening and awarded Felix U Highly Commended and Alice S Winner in the Intermediate Class. In the Senior Class, Fletcher L was Highly Commended and Iona J was the Winner for her exquisite rendition of Coleridge-Taylor’s ‘Impromptu in B minor and ‘Over the Bars’ composed by J.P. Johnson.
