We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jamie MacKenzie to the post of Houseparent of Moredun from September 2024. Jamie will be taking over from Henry McCowan Hill who has been Houseparent of Moredun since 2018.
A former Housemaster at Loretto School Edinburgh, Jamie is currently a Head of Year at Framlingham College in Suffolk, with responsibility for all the students in Fifth Form. Jamie also teaches History and English as a Second Language. Throughout his teaching career Jamie has taught and tutored all age ranges, and both understands and enjoys the life of a boarding school. As an Old Fettesian (OF), Jamie also knows Fettes, having been a boarder in Carrington House. He and his wife Nicki are looking forward to returning to Scotland with their two young children to make Moredun their family home.
Jamie MacKenzie says “It is a huge privilege and an honour to be returning to Fettes College as Houseparent of Moredun. Having spent eight years as a boarder at Fettes, I know how formative the boarding house is and I hope I can continue the amazing work of Henry McCowan Hill and provide the boys of Moredun a home where they can thrive academically, create strong relationships, and receive the best pastoral support during their time at Fettes.”
Helen Harrison, Head, says “Jamie joins us with a wealth of pastoral experience. House staff are key appointments in a boarding school and I am confident that Moredun will continue to be a welcoming, inclusive and stimulating community under Jamie’s leadership. This is an exciting appointment and Jamie is fully committed to building on the excellent care and traditions of the McCowan Hill family.”
