New Director of Sport Announced
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Becky Mill as the new Director of Sport for Fettes College, taking over the role from Mark Appleson who moves to become Deputy Head (School Life) in September.
“Becky brings significant experience, leadership and passion to the role. Personally, she has captained Scotland and earned 139 caps over the course of her international career. Becky is excited to continue to nurture talent, build cohesive teams and promote a competitive yet inclusive environment. Her aim is to ensure that every student leaves Fettes with a positive relationship with physical activity and have many sporting memories to cherish.” Helen Harrison, Head of Fettes College.
At Fettes students have access to over 20 different sports and we have won 15 National Titles in the last two years.
Mark Appleson says “I am delighted to see Becky appointed to this role. She combines a deep passion for sport with a proven track record of success in performance sport at the very highest level. Her energy, vision, and commitment to excellence are matched by her genuine care for every student. She is driven to ensure that all individuals, regardless of ability, feel supported, inspired, and valued within the games programme.”
Becky joined the Fettes Sports department in 2012 and has held the roles of Head of Girls’ Games and most recently Head of Hockey, as well as teaching Academic PE. She is currently on maternity leave, returning in April 2026. In the interim Michael Henderson-Sowerby will be the Acting Director of Sport for the Autumn and Spring Terms.
