National Museum of Scotland visit

On Wednesday 15th January the Fourth Form Classical Civilisation GCSE class had a fantastic time researching and analysing historical artefacts at the National Museum of Scotland. Students had to find and critically evaluate diverse historical artefacts from different time periods. The students really enjoyed seeing so many different examples of historical objects, everything from Egyptian mummies to Greek Pottery and even Etruscan jewellery. They all agreed that this experience was invaluable for helping them analyse ancient sources in class. The trip concluded with a quick stop into the café for some well-deserved refreshment, before students had some time to explore their own interests. Favourites included modern race cars, sperm whale skeletons, and even the original Dolly the Sheep! It is great to have a such an amazing resource on our doorstep here in Edinburgh which we could visit during our lesson time.
