The final of the Instrumental Competition on Friday evening was a fabulous evening, showcasing the talents of nine of our musicians.
Tiger L, Davina H, Sofia E, Marcus P and Imogen P performed on the violin, trumpet, guitar and flute in the Intermediate Class, with a wonderful variety of music, ranging from Handel to Hans Zimmer.
In the senior Class, Yoko N, Marcus C, Somei M and Eleanor R gave brilliant performances on the violin, guitar, and oboe, with music spanning the eighteenth century to the present day.
The standard throughout was terrific and our wonderful adjudicator Paul Stubbings, Director of Music at St Mary’s Music School, had the very difficult job to do of choosing winners. In the end, it was an excellent night for our classical guitarists, with Marcus P winning the Intermediate Class and Marcus C taking the top spot in the Senior Class. Davina was awarded the Highly Commended prize of the Intermediate Class for her trumpet playing and Somei was placed Highly Commended in the Senior category for his performance of Beethoven’s ‘Spring’ violin sonata.
Congratulations everyone and thank you to Paul Stubbings for joining us!
