May Exhibition

Between 22nd May and 3rd June, Fettes College will host two exhibitions of artists’ work. David Haslam, Artist in Residence, and Simon Overton, Art Department Technician, will both showcase new work produced over the past year around the school.

An opening reception for both exhibitions will take place on Monday 22nd May at 4pm in the Art Department. On Friday 26th May at 2pm, David will give an informal talk about his work.  Both events are open to all so please do come along! We look forward to seeing you there.

David’s project began with work produced for an exhibition at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery earlier in the year, which considered the relationship between geography and knowledge. Continuing on from this, David has developed a site-specific work which relates to features from the grounds & local area around Fettes College. His work seeks to explore the logistics of where our understanding of anything, even the mundane, comes from.  David’s work will be on display in room AR5 in the Spens Building.

Simon’s exhibition captures and explores a personal experience of navigating landscapes at night time. Interested in the metamorphoses which places undergo at night, this photographic project finds a mirror between the person and the place. Simon’s work will be on display in the Foyer Gallery of the Dining Hall.
