This year’s much anticipated Macleod Debating Competition final was held last night which saw veteran debaters Ben L and Geordie M face Ziyad A-M and Alex P. Ben and Geordie proposed the motion ‘This House would introduce a Scandinavian style National Service’, with Ziyad and Alex countering.

Both sides demonstrated strength in their arguments, with the opposition offering strong rebuttals and counter-claims, and the proposition offering an elegant analysis of the strategic situation. The judging panel had a difficult decision, but in the end awarded the win to the proposition.

We have had some great debating this term – well done to everyone who has taken part, and congratulations to Ben & Geordie.
