This summer the girl’s Lacrosse team travelled to Canada to challenge themselves, learn new skills and take on some of the world’s best players.
In the start of July 34 of our Fettes pupils arrived in Toronto and embarked on a 10 day Lacrosse Tour of Canada.
Day two was action packed for the tour team, with the day kicking off with a training session at Cherry Beach Playing Fields at Port Toronto. The girls had the opportunity to run their legs out, practise their stick kills and work on some game shape for the upcoming match that day. After a quick freshen up, the girls jumped back on their brightly coloured American tour bus and headed down to the CN Tower. They took the elevator up to the top deck and enjoyed the views of Toronto and the suburbs. A particular highlight for many of the girls was the glass flooring, where they could see the street below them. After lunch, the girls hopped onto the bus and headed for Georgetown, where the U18 and U16 teams played their first fixtures of the tour, against Guelph Lacrosse Club. The U16’s won their game convincingly with a 10-1 score line, with Liv M scoring 4 of the 10 goals. The senior score was a similar score line, with the girls winning in style 9-0, with Kai H scoring 4 of these. There were a number of notable performances on the pitch but for the U16’s, Phoebe M-B was a stalwart in defence, ensuring next to nothing reached keeper Honor C-B. In the U18’s, Isabella S was on fire in the midfield, driving the ball hard down the pitch and placing shots into the fan well.
All in all a superb set of fixtures and start to the tour for the two team.
