In what has been an immensely busy period for our musicians, eleven of Fettes’ finest musicians took part in the final of the Instrumental Competition held in the Culachy Music School on Wednesday 6^th March,  

There were two classes, Intermediate and Senior, and Mrs. Louise Timney (Director of Music at Dollar Academy) was our adjudicator for the evening.  She praised all the finalists and recognised the courage and the conviction in their performances. At the close of the evening, she awarded Matteo C the Highly Commended and Marcel L, for his playing of a ‘Vivace’ by Telemann (on Marimba) winner in the Intermediate Class. In the Senior Class, Nyasha W on Flute was ‘Highly Commended’ for her ‘Tambourin’ by Gossec and ‘Hypnosis’ by Clarke. Our winner was Bethany W. for her committed and classy renditions of ‘Playera’ by de Sarasate and Romanian Dances nos. 4, 5 & 6 by Bela Bartók.
