Inaugural EE/EPQ Showcase

Monday afternoon saw our inaugural EE/EPQ Showcase, the culmination of the Extended Essay for our IB cohort and the Extended Project Qualification for our A Level cohort. 100 of our U6th students gathered to present the fruits of their academic labour over the last year.  The range of topics -  from scientific investigations tackling issues such as how satellite orbital decay impacts clock drift to the possibility of CRISPR technology revolutionising treatment for monogenic disorders, alongside essays on social class in ‘Jane Eyre’ and the impact of the Ottoman defeat at the Siege of Vienna - demonstrated just how curious Fettesians are. It was great to see more students than ever before choosing the ‘Artefact’ route for the EPQ, which led to some impressive projects including the many 3D-printed architectural houses of differing designs over history. Overall, this was a real celebration of what students achieve when they aim high and work hard. The bar has been set high for the L6th who are at the start of a very exciting academic journey; we look forward to seeing them share their work in a year’s time!
