House Rowing Competition

The hugely popular annual House Rowing Competition took place on Thursday 9th March and saw some very strong rowing across all houses and all year groups.

Carrington defended their title yet again in the boys’ competition, making them unbeaten in the competition since 2017. They managed a clean sweep of wins across all age classes and, in addition, set new school records for both Class 1 and Class 3 age-groups. Class 1 was of particular note in that they are the first team ever to go below 6 minutes for 2000m (5’ 57.2” which translates to an average split of 1:29.3 /500m). The Class 3 race saw the first ever tie for this event; for 3rd place between Glencorse and Kimmerghame.

In the girls’ competition, Dalmeny came first in the Senior age class - producing a very dominant row, just 1.2 seconds outside the school record with Arniston taking second place. In the Junior age class, Arniston came first, and Dalmeny took second place. As there was a tie-break in the girls’ competition, the final decisions were calculated on average times for the two events, where Dalmeny came out on top as a result of their impressive Senior row.
