House Football and Touch Rugby Tournaments

Before we finished for Half Term, our students put on their House colours and with House flags in hand, they took part in the House rugby and football tournaments. It was a blustery afternoon but as always it was wonderful to see lots of house spirit on display (and it helped the flags to fly too).

Girls’ House Football Tournament

This year’s house football was split into two separate tournaments, junior and senior, due to a fantastic increase in participation in girls’ football at Fettes. Numbers at games and activities have steadily increasing as the term has progressed.
In the junior tournament, Dalmeny emerged the winners beating Arniston 1-0 in the final match of the round robin. The wind made the conditions hard for playing football, but the enthusiasm shown was great. Strongest and loudest support was shown by Arniston who even brought out their puffin costume for the event.
In the senior tournament, the best football of the day was played by College East.  Prior to the last round of matches, we were looking at the possibility of a three-way tie. College East took an early 1-0 lead in their final match then Dalmeny and Arniston added to the drama as the match went to penalties. College East eventually won the tournament on goals scored!

Boys' House Touch Rugby Tournament

On the same afternoon, an exciting House touch rugby tournament took place. Although the weather conditions were challenging, effort and spirit could not be dampened as groups of students gathered to show their support. The overall result came down to the last round of matches where Moredun scored a late try against Glencorse to take the title. Well done to all the students who took part for a wonderful afternoon of sport and those who came out to support too.
The overall results were:
1. Moredun
2. Glencorse
3. Kimmerghame
4. Carrington
