Harvest Thanksgiving Service
Our beautiful Chapel was packed on Sunday evening for our annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service, and was decked out with produce ranging from groceries to other essential supplies, collected by Fettes students to donate to Edinburgh City Mission.
The Service was led by the Heads of House who read lessons and led prayers, and the preacher was Mr Mile Libke, Edinburgh City Mission’s Food+ Team Leader. The Fettes choir, led by Mr Tulloch, was in superb voice – reaching to the rafters with a lovely rendition of Great is thy faithfulness
Although the Chapel was full of the produce collected, a vast amount remained in the MacLeod Centre for collection by Edinburgh City Mission on Monday morning for transportation to their food banks– more than one van load could carry!
Duncan Cuthill, Edinburgh City Mission’s CEO said “We are very grateful for the generous support that Fettes gives to us. The need is immense, especially now with the rising costs in living. We are dependent on the support of schools, churches, individuals, businesses and Trusts to enable us to provide food for people who are really struggling. Breaking the downwards spiral that people can get into is a challenge and so our Foodbank+ network provides not only food but a friendly ear and helpful advice when needed.”
Well done to our students who did a brilliant job at collecting so much produce to donate.
