Congratulations to Fettes Piping Instructor, Mr Alasdair Henderson, for now being in the top 10 solo pipers in the world and gaining the title ‘Double Gold Medallist’. 

Mr Henderson says:

“As the Pipe Sergeant of the Inveraray & District Pipe Band I am delighted that we reached 3rd place at this years’ Grade 1 World Pipe Band Championship against many formidable opponents. Earlier that week I won the March, Strathspey and Reel event at the Masters Solo Piping Competition which gains me an invitation to compete in Florida later this year. I also completed a bucket list achievement of winning the Gold Medal for Piobaireachd at The Argyllshire Gathering in Oban. This, with my other Gold Medal which I won in 2017 has earned me the title of ‘Double Gold Medallist’.  This year’s Gold Medal win comes an invitation to compete at the prestigious Glenfiddich Piping Competition, held annually at Blair Castle and reserved for the top 10 solo pipers in the world.”
