Fettes College Classics Day

On Thursday 7th November the Fettes College Classics Department were joined by 150 pupils from six visiting Prep Schools (The Chorister School, Belhaven Hill, Ardvreck, Craigclowan, Cargilfield, Terrington Hall) as well as 1st Form pupils from Fettes Prep, for Classics Day.

Pupils had the opportunity to take part in a host of different activities: gladiatorial training with a Roman centurion; listening to the epic tales from a visiting storyteller; a Greek Theatre workshop and a Latin treasure hunt around the Fettes Campus. Pupils also helped to create a huge collaborative mosaic, featuring 19,000 mosaic tiles.

The final activity was a fast paced vocabulary challenge – each school had picked two vocabulary champions who competed against each other in three hotly contested rounds. Chloe from The Chorister School won the competition, retaining her school’s winning position from last year. The day was hugely enjoyable for all involved, and we are already looking forward to hosting the next event.
