Exciting new developments for Fettes Radio

Since its launch in November 2021, Fettes Radio has taken exciting steps over the course of the year. With an eager team of budding presenters and producers, the team have produced half termly radio shows, and plan to produce more regular content in the next academic year. The producers have been learning the ropes with the decks, including how to produce a ‘bed’ for their shows, volume and microphone control and loading tracks into the system to create a seamless and stylish sounding show. The presenters have been generating a range of ideas for exciting future shows and have considered a variety of different genres to trial and see what works for them.

Highlights so far have included the ‘Festive Fettes’ show - a magazine style compilation of festive activities to do around Edinburgh, groan-inducing cracker puns, a Christmas song ‘sound clash’ and two very special performances from the chapel choir, recorded exclusively for Fettes Radio. The was also an exciting ‘ski trip takeover’ in which students from last year’s trip recorded promotional material for next year, with exclusive interviews with students who had been on past ski trips. There is a fascinating advice style show in the making for 5th Form, discussing the differences between IB and A level, recorded by U6th students, which gives their honest opinions on the courses and the differences between them.

Most recently, the Fettes Film Society took over the decks to produce their forthcoming regular show ‘Underrated Gems’, providing an entertaining and engaging series of interviews about films they believe are brilliant and deserve more accolades. The plan over the next academic year to broadcast live across the school community with an entertaining evening show filled with music, news and engaging chat on current affairs is one of the exciting highlights for Fettes Radio. Revision podcasts and playlists already in the works will provide another way for our student body to revise and engage with the various subjects they are studying.

With a brilliant team of students at the helm next year, Fettes Radio looks forward to releasing more content for the Fettes community to enjoy and to engage with!  Thanks go to Ms L Palmer for her inspiration and encouragement throughout the year and her help in all areas of Fettes Radio.
