Examination Results and University destinations for our 2025 Leavers

Thursday 14th August saw A Level results published nationwide and brought another wonderful set of results for A Level students at Fettes. In a fantastic achievement, 41% of our A Level grades were A*-A and 71% were A*-B. 19 of our students achieved all A*/A grades, with 2 students achieving 4 A*s and 1 student even achieving 4A*s and 2As.

64 of our A Level students also completed the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) with 28% of EPQ projects awarded the A* grade and 67% achieving A*/A.

Our A Level students are now bound for university places across the UK to study a variety of courses, including Natural Sciences at Cambridge, Mathematics and Philosophy at Oxford, Economics at St Andrews, Politics and International Relations at Bath, Climate Science at Durham, Geography at Bristol, Biomedical Science at UCL, and the City & Guilds of London Art School, to name a few. We also wish the very best to our students heading off to study abroad at universities including Georgetown, Vassar and McGill.

At Fettes, students have the opportunity to study either the International Baccalaureate or A Level pathways and we are therefore delighted to announce that the combined results of our 2025 A Level & IB examinations are:

 A*/7                21%

 A*-A/ 7-6      55%

A*-B/ 7-5       81%

The average UCAS Tariff points score for our Sixth Form leavers is 168, which is equivalent to 3A*s.

Anushka Chakravarty, Deputy Head (Academic) said:

Our dual pathway at Sixth Form of A Level or the International Baccalaureate is designed to allow our students to choose the academic programme of study that best fits their strengths and aptitudes. We are so proud to see this benefitting our A Level cohort who have worked tremendously hard this year to achieve fantastic results and secure places at top universities and art schools. I wish them all the best as they prepare to make their mark on the world beyond Fettes.”

Helen Harrison, Head of Fettes College said:

“This A Level cohort should be very proud of all that they have achieved and we wish them all the very best as they head out ready for this next exciting stage of their lives. Supported by our dedicated staff, all the Leavers of 2025 have made a meaningful impact on our community and have built all the skills and values for success and happiness in their future. We know they will go on to make a positive difference.”
