As the Autumn term drew to a close, a superb Service of Lessons and Carols was held at St. Cuthbert’s Church.  Opening with the traditional ‘Once in Royal..’, Renie G’s solo voice soared as the congregation eagerly listened. The Chapel Choir were in fantastic form with some challenging repertoire by Kenneth Leighton, Ola Gjeilo and John Gardner. Further solos were sensitively delivered by Archie B in Harold Darke’s setting of ‘In the Bleak midwinter’ and Douglas G, Matteo C, and Edward L, carried off their solos in ‘Kings of Orient’ with style and panache. Of course, there were many opportunities for the  Fettes community to sing carols, too, concluding with a mighty rendition of ‘O Come all ye faithful’
