Director of Sport Appointment

Fettes College is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Appleson as Fettes’ new Director of Sport starting in September 2020.

Mark, has over 30 years’ experience in education and is currently the Director of Rugby at The Edinburgh Academy. He comes to Fettes with an impressive knowledge of school sport in Scotland and a passion for all sports which we know will be infectious for students and staff alike.

“The role of Director of Sport at Fettes College is something that excites me greatly and I cannot wait to start this new challenge. Leading Fettes’ sports forwards in their 150th year is a role that I will treasure. I am genuinely thrilled to have be given this opportunity to work with all of the students at the College to create a culture of activity.”

Mark has been always been a passionate sportsman, including rugby, cricket, golf, athletics and swimming. He has played for several rugby clubs including London Scottish, Sale and Leeds Tykes and gained representative honours with the Scotland A XV (4 caps) and the Scotland 7s team including the World Cup at Murrayfield in 1994. We are delighted to welcome Mark and his family into the Fettes family!
